PARTNERS

The CAMELOT consortium involves twenty-two entities of eleven EU member states or associated countries (Portugal, Spain, Belgium, France, Greece, United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Switzerland). The consortium was setup following the Triple Helix concept of University-Industry-Government relationships. With eight industrial partners, four research and innovation institutes and ten practitioners (law enforcement agencies and governmental bodies), the CAMELOT consortium was setup taking into account three drivers:

Heavy industrial involvement to ensure background work with suitable Technology Readiness Levels, adequate commercial exploitation potential and involvement in standardization that can lead to the adoption of the CAMELOT architecture as an implementation of Multi-Service Multi-Domain Command and Control open architecture;

Diverse end-user involvement to ensure ample coverage of EU external borders, exposure to different border control challenges (e.g. immigration, trafficking) and different operational needs, systems and cultures (e.g. covering essentially land borders or maritime borders);

Capability and availability to commit assets and sensors to tests and demonstrations aimed at validating the CAMELOT concept and technologies.

CONSORTIUM

TEKEVER ASDS (Coordinator)

TEKEVER ASDS (Aerospace, Defence and Security) was created in 2006 as a spin-off of the TEKEVER Group, and serves as the group's incubator for innovative technologies for the aerospace, defence and security markets. The company develops technologies up to maturity levels consistent with the creation of new ASDS products or the spin-off for integration into existing product lines of other companies of the Group. TEK-ASDS is completely privately owned and counts on around 70 highly skilled, experienced and motivated staff. 95% of the staff have undergraduate (BSc) or graduate (MSc) and post graduate (PhD) degrees and their backgrounds cover different disciplines, from Mechanical and Electronics to Aerospace, Software and Industrial Engineering.

In CAMELOT, TEKEVER Ltd, a company from the TEKEVER Group, is also present as a third party linked to TEKEVER ASDS and will carry out part of the work. TEKEVER Ltd was created in 2013 with the objective of exploiting the local well defined legislative environment for unmanned aircraft, UK’s leadership position in the European aerospace industry and to secure a good local skill base for the group, for developing new concepts in the Autonomous Systems domain.

BAE Systems (Operations) Limited

BAE Systems is an international company engaged in the development, delivery and support of advanced defence and aerospace systems. BAE Systems has, via its extensive business portfolio, an immense breadth and depth of expertise and experience in the land, air, sea and metropolitan domains. This experience includes development of advanced platform and electronic systems solutions at a technology, product, platform and system-of-systems level, as well as core skills in knowledge management, systems integration and project management.

It is important to highlight that the prosecution of the objectives above will require on the one hand the implementation of tools and frameworks over which the modules will run (as mentioned, there is currently no widely adopted standard meaning CAMELOT will need to carry out targeted development in this area) and on the other hand limited research and development in some modules which currently present a lower TRL but have been considered extremely relevant by end-users.
